HAIR SYSTEMS

Hair systems require regular maintenance and care to maintain their appearance and prolong their lifespan. This includes regular cleaning, conditioning, and styling. The lifespan of a hair system varies depending on the individual's usage, care, and exposure to the sun or other elements.

HAIR SYSTEM FAQ

  • How much does it cost?
There are a few different costs when deciding on getting a hair system. There is the hair itself, installation, cutting, and styling. If purchased through me, I do not mark-up the cost of hair like most other salons will. Each hair system is custom ordered to client specifications, and therefore, there is NO refunds or exchanges once purchased as it cannot be returned. This fee is $700 for the system, installation, and haircut. If you already have a system and require installation and a cut, the fee is $300.
  • How much will maintenance cost me?
I recommend coming in for system maintenance every 2-3 weeks based on your lifestyle and body chemistry. This determines how quickly it breaks down the adhesive. Maintenance without a haircut is $125, and maintenance including a haircut, is $175. I encourage clients to learn basic maintenance of their systems so they do not have to come in as often, but this will depend on what you can afford and what they can do at home. I will always help you as best I can.
  • How long will my hair system last?
This question varies based on the type of system you buy. The most realistic-looking systems, be it lace or thin skin, will last 8-10 weeks. More durable systems that are still realistic looking, but have a little more hairline visibility will last 3-4 months. Depending on how the system is taken care of (meaning maintenance, washing, styling, and lifestyle) will also play a part in how long your system will last.
  • Are the systems human hair?
Yes. All of the hair systems I use are human hair, except for some companies that add gray hair to the system which can sometimes be synthetic or yaki. If you are interested in an all-gray system that is neither synthetic nor yaki, there is one company that I use that is 100% European human hair.
  • Are people going to be able to tell I'm wearing a hair system?
If you were bald before and you suddenly have hair, then some people are going to notice that you have done something different, but if the hair is the correct density and applied correctly with the appropriate hairline, people will only see that you look better. If one of your primary concerns is how realistic the hair looks, you must stick with a thin-skin system as that is the most undetectable.
  • Does it take a lot of work to wear a hair system?
If you haven't had hair in a while, it will be like getting back on a bike after not having ridden in a few years. You will have to learn to style your hair and also maintain the system, which in time becomes very easy, however, there is definitely a learning curve to this. It will take some getting used to in building your confidence, but once you get the hang of it and get a few compliments, it becomes easier every time. I will suggest a few at-home supplies to make it easier to get started in caring for your system.
  • Can I work out while wearing a hair system?
Yes. You can work out, but there are some limitations on what you can do. The first 24 hours after your hair system is installed, you must refrain from excessive sweating as the bond needs to set properly. After 24 hours, you can go about working out, but the more sweat and oil your body produces, the faster the adhesive will break down, and you will probably require weekly maintenance. If your primary source of exercise is mainly cardiovascular training, wearing a hair system will be a lot of care.
  • How often should I wash my hair system and what products should I use?
Realistically, you should only wash your system with a sulfate-free shampoo once a week. You should be using water-soluble styling products so that you can either rinse your hair in the shower or re-style it using a spray bottle with water. The more often you shampoo your hair system, the faster the color will fade and start to look dry. It would be best if you always used a leave-in conditioner spray when you get out of the shower before you brush and style your hair. This will protect your hair from heat damage and help detangle any knots.
  • Can I wear a hair system if I have sensitive skin?
I offer hypoallergenic, water-based adhesives for clients with sensitive scalps. If you have skin sensitivities, I recommend you come in and get a patch test done using the different types of bonds I work with to ensure you are a good candidate for a hair system.
  • Can you teach me how to maintain my hair system?
Of course! I always encourage clients to learn how to maintain their systems at home as best they can. During your first installation, I will let you know everything I am doing, but it is essential to come back for your first maintenance, so I can show you how to remove and clean the system properly, clean and prep your scalp, as well as how to apply your system at home. I will also give you a list of products that can be purchased on Amazon, so you can be fully confident in maintaining your hair at home.
  • What is an FAQ section?
An FAQ section can be used to quickly answer common questions about you or your business, such as “Where do you ship to?”, “What are your opening hours?” or “How can I book a service?” It’s a great way to help people navigate your site and can even boost your site’s SEO.
